IMG_0411cropped-snohomish-county-fc-steelheads-primary-1.pngGIG HARBOR, WA— The Snohomish County FC Steelheads scored four goals in the second half on Saturday July 6 to pull away from the Harbor Force in a WWPL match that ended in a 4-0 win for Snohomish. The Steelheads remain unbeaten in league play and improve to 4-3-0 (W-D-L) and 15 points, moving up to fifth in the table with matches in hand against the clubs above them. Overall the Fish are now 5-5-1 in 2019.

From the very beginning it was Snohomish creating the chances and bossing the match. The Steelheads were getting used to the grass pitch but still applied plenty of pressure to the Harbor Force goal. But the final passes were long or the finishing touches were missing. Snohomish were patient and eventually it paid off.

Goal Video Highlights

Over a 24-minute span the Steelheads scored their four goals. It began in the 61st minute when Rio Alcorta converted a penalty kick. Newcomer Diego Rios had drawn a foul in the box with a quick move along the right side of the penalty area. It was 1-0 Steelheads.

Cade Cooke made it 2-0 in the 73rd minute with a powerfully struck header on a pinpoint looping cross from Fabian Panduro. 2-0 Snohomish.

A true team goal sequence ended with a close range sharp angle blast from Carlos Rodriguez in the 80th minute. 3-0 for the Fish.

The scoring was complete when Rodriguez fed Panduro in the 85th minute and Fabian calmly converted on the trot. 4-0 Final.

In the back the Steelheads clamped down on the Force. Goalkeeper Dorian Lair had very little to do in going the full 90 for the shutout. His first save came late on when he tipped a shot over the crossbar.

The Steelheads are right back at it on Sunday night July 7 as they travel down to Bellevue to play BeSea FC at 5 PM at Bellevue Community College.
