The Steelheads were on the road this past weekend to face Nido Aguila C.A and find themselves with another win, dominating 4-1. These two clubs will also meet at Home July 30th for the Steelheads’ season finale. Snohomish and Nido Aguila have faced each other 4 times since 2019, with the Fish holding a 3-1-0 W-T-L record against them.
Swimming Strong From The Start
With the Steelheads pressing at the 50-yard line, Nido was able to control the ball but didn’t offer much in the attack. Nido settled on swinging the ball around the outside for the first 10-15 minutes of play. After a Nido turnover from a direct ball over the top, the Fish capitalized on a counterattack opportunity. TJ Rowley (newly promoted from Gala FC) was able to intercept the ball and played Morgan West over the top for a 1v1 opportunity, ultimately seeing the first goal of the match. 1-0 Fish. Five minutes later, Nido was able to pull a penalty kick off a soft tug of the arm from Miguel Guevara on a Nido forward.
Luke Brezak filled in for the injured Dorian Lair (who comes back from concussion protocol this week), stepped up big to make the save and denied Nido from tying the game. In the 25th minute, Glenn Paden provided the flick for Andrew Escalante off of a Steelheads set-piece to make the score 2-0. The Fish were swimming strong at this point and created 3 more chances before making it 3-0. Glenn Paden was able to win the ball at the 30-yardline , and with his left foot, ripped a low-driven shot into the bottom corner of the net. The Steelheads would finish the half 3-0.
More Chances
The 2nd half would see the Fish pressing a little higher than they should have, which led to Nido creating some opportunities. In the 65th minute, Nido was able to get a corner kick, which they played into the back post for a wide-open header to make it 3-1. In the 68th minute, a Nido defender picked up his second yellow card of the game for a reckless slide tackle. A red card was given and the fish would drop their press back to the 50-yard line the rest of the game ultimately leading to more chances on goals. In the 86th minute, Cristiano Whitaker sent a cross into the box finding Jacen Stein who would take it down with his chest and score the 4th goal of the game and make it 4-1. Jacen Stein currently leads in the league with 8 goals in 6 games. Stein missed all of the preseason and the first three league games including Wenatchee x2 and Kirkland.

The fish will host the season finale Saturday, July 30th at 7 pm at Dick Cardinal Stadium vs Nido FC. A win or tie for the Fish will guarantee them a top 3 finish in the league.
