Rio Alcorta’s golazo voted 2019 Steelheads Goal of the Year

scudetto-2019_on_whiteSMOKEY POINT, WA—The WWPL Champion Snohomish County FC Steelheads reveal today that Bothell native, Snohomish United national champion, Inglemoor High School alum and Pacific Lutheran University grad Rio Alcorta has won the online vote for Steelheads “Goal of the Year” for 2019.

The final poll results show the overwhelming support for Alcorta’s May 18th 89th-minute match winner against Federal Way FC.

It was a goal that won a match, ignited a team and propelled a season. Beyond that the play provided many of the elements fans love about soccer. A pass into an open space, a player making an intelligent run, a nifty nutmeg, a calm, clever, clinical finishing touch.

The 2-month stretch of championship level play for the Steelheads really did begin on May 18 when Alcorta rescued his club in the dying moments.

The Steelheads won that match 2-1 over Federal Way and went on to win 6 of 8 (2 draws) the rest of the way to capture the 2019 Western Washington Premier League title.
