SMOKEY POINT, WA—The Snohomish County FC Steelheads face Wenatchee All-Stars FC on Sunday May 9 at 1 PM at Dick Cardinal Stadium in the opening match of a WWPL soccer double header. Gala FC follows at 3 PM with their first-ever home WWPL 2 match against ISC Gunners of Issaquah. One ticket gets fans into BOTH matches. Steelheads Unbeaten Streak Faces New Challenges

The Steelheads have built a 13-match unbeaten streak in the WWPL over two seasons of play. The Fish are 8-0-5 during the run which includes the 2019 WWPL Championship. In 2021 as the league reboots from Covid-19, SnoCo FC are off to a 1-0-2 start after 3 matches. Wenatchee All-Stars FC (2-0-1, currently third in table) were always going to provide a challenge, but recent roster news for the Steelheads makes the match all the more tough for the home side.

Four Key Defenders To Miss Match

The Steelheads will be without four key defenders on Sunday: John Troka (Red Card), Gunnar Stohl (Injury), Garret Robinson (Injury) and Hector Palomera. This group has been the core of the Snoco FC defense in 2021. Troka and Stohl are original Fish going back to 2017 and were key contributors in the 2019 title season.

Redmond’s Kojo Dadzie (Brown University) is on the Steelheads 18 for Mother’s Day.

New Names On The 18 Man SnoCo FC Roster

Head Coach Dagi Kesim has spent the week trying to patch together a starting 18 from available players and new faces in the talent pool. Kesim’s system of play is very specific and the new guys are trying to lock it in and be ready for Wenatchee. Making their Steelhead debuts on Mother’s Day on the 18 man roster are: Kojo Dadzie, Ajeet Dhaliwal, Anthony Gronwoldt, Jamie O’Connell, Ozzy Wardak, and Morgan West.

Gala FC Looking For Breakthrough Win

Gala FC Men’s Team are the Official Second Team of SnoCo FC and are playing their first season in the WWPL Second Division. So far the club has competed well in all matches but just fallen a bit short on the scoreboard. Gala rallied last week in a 3-2 loss at Issaquah. Sunday at 3 PM they host those same ISC Gunners looking for a breakthrough win to ignite their season.
