Steelheads jump into second with win at Nido Seattle

SEATTLE, WA— The Snohomish County FC Steelheads jumped into second place in the Western Washington Premier League table with a 3-1 away victory over Nido Aguila Club America Seattle on Saturday June 5 at Nathan Hale High School. Kojo Dadzie scored two more goals to raise his total to six in just four matches.

The Eagles pressured the Fish for much of the match but it was SnoCo FC who had the final answers in front of goal. Kojo Dadzie gave the Steelheads a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute with a perfectly placed header. The set-up was another long throw-in from Cade Cooke right into the middle of the action.

The Steelheads had a few chances to increase their lead, but it remained 1-0 until the 71st minute when Nido tied the match 1-1 on a sharply sent low cross into the box. Live it appeared a Nido player had managed to connect. Later Steelhead defender John Troka revealed he had the final touch on an own goal.

The Fish answered straight back. In the 73rd minute Kojo and Jacen Stein found themselves solving the Nido defense. Kojo drew defenders and Stein received and converted the pass to put SnoCo FC back on top 2-1.

The clincher came in the 82nd minute when Randy Galvan lofted a long ball down the right flank that Dadzie ran under. Kojo split two defenders and shot a ball that glanced off of the inside of the far post and into the net giving the Fish a 3-1 lead.

Snohomish County improves to 4-2-1 (W-D-L) on the league season (5-2-1 overall) with 14 standings points. The win boosted the Fish over Nido and into second place in the WWPL table, 5 points behind the 19 of Wenatchee All-Stars FC.

The Steelheads have a week off before hosting the Harbor Force on Sunday June 20 at 3 PM at Dick Cardinal Stadium in Smokey Point. All fathers will get in free for that match.
