SMOKEY POINT, WA— The Snohomish County FC Steelheads were on the attack in the second half at Wenatchee SC on March 30. Chances were coming and being wasted up front as forwards and midfielders failed to connect or just barely missed the mark. Up stepped defender Gunnar Stohl. In the 89th minute the Marysville-Pilchuck alum kept his cool and got the Steelheads even. See the goal broken down play-by-play in the video below.
Tomahawk & Trojan
Gunnar was “William Stohl” in high school when he featured for the Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks. He was an All-Wesco Team choice more than once on defense. He next went to Everett Community College where he played for the Trojans in the NWAC in 2013 and 2014 . Those we tough years for Everett in the standings but Stohl was a bright spot. Even then he had a knack for stepping forward and dishing out assists and putting his team on the scoreboard.

Last year Gunnar was named “Man of the Match” for the Steelheads in a 0-0 draw up north against Bellingham United of the Evergreen Premier League. In Wenatchee on March 30, 2019 those honors went to the defensive efforts and long throw-ins of Kamiak High grad Cade Cooke. Cade is on the current Everett CC soccer squad. He started the Stohl goal with a long throw.
More from EvCC
Before Stohl knocked it home, it was Carlos Rodriguez who challenged for the ball off of the throw-in and made it difficult for Wenatchee to clear. The short clearance resulted in the ball falling to Stohl.
Rodriguez, you ask? Well he is also a Marysville-Pilchuck grad and currently plays alongside Cooke at Everett CC.
