Hard working Steelheads could earn call-ups under new affiliation with Team Cascadia

caff_logo.jpgSMOKEY POINT, WA— The Snohomish County FC Steelheads are excited to work with the Cascadia Association Football Federation (CAFF) and Team Cascadia after it was recently announced that the Western Washington Premier League (WWPL) would be affiliating with the organization.

In a release from the WWPL that you can read here, the league states:

Going forward CAFF and the WWPL will cooperate together to allow players on clubs in the Washington men’s adult premier league increased opportunities to showcase their talents to CAFF coaches with the goal of eventually having multiple WWPL players represent our region on the Cascadia team.

2019-wwpl-champions-starIt’s all about raising the level of awareness for the WWPL and Team Cascadia while at the same time providing further opportunities for local players to compete, this time at an international level.

Snohomish County FC Technical Director of Soccer and Head Coach Dagi Kesim likes what is being discussed. “I think this is a great opportunity for both organizations. I feel like there are hidden talents in Snohomish County,” he says. “We need to make sure we get players who are willing to improve and learn, not just satisfied players. My goal is to give a real opportunity to hungry and hard working talent.”

SnoCo FC General Manager David Falk is pleased to see the collaboration. “I think the WWPL is a perfect fit for Team Cascadia,” he says. “The Steelheads have already had goalkeeper Dorian Lair on that team, and he enjoyed the experience. Now we can give all of our guys something more to shoot for…a call-up to our regional international team.”

The Steelheads will be looking for ways to work with CAFF as the off season continues. The soccer part will include making connections with Team Cascadia Head Coach James Nichols. The organizational part will be bouncing ideas around with CAFF President Aaron Johnsen. Aaron also recently became a member of the Steelheads’ Founders Club.
