General admission is $5 (kids 6-under free, gates open at 2:30 PM.)

The first 50 fans through the gate will get a goalWA.net logo button. The soccer news website is the first official “Match Presenter” of the 2019 season.

The Steelheads are starting small and hoping to grow into their home venue. The club’s contract with the Lakewood School District calls for use of the visitor side of the stadium, and does not include use of the scoreboard or public address system. Lakewood High School does not rent out its locker rooms.

Room to grow

“We want to grow into our use of Dick Cardinal Stadium,” says Steelheads General Manager David Falk. “We will keep an eye on match day revenue and business partnerships. As those increase, we can then consider increasing our financial commitment to the school district by paying for more use of the stadium seating and features.”

Simply put, SnoCo FC is doing what it can afford this year. The club is providing a very nice turf field for matches and reasonable seating for spectators. Parking is free and entry to the stadium is handicap accessible and close by.

“We’d love to have music, announce goals, communicate with fans and more,” Falk says, “but we have to establish that we can operate at that level. Stadium costs are a large chunk of change, and we are fortunate that the Lakewood School District has agreed to ‘downsize’ Dick Cardinal Stadium for us and make it closer to being affordable.”

Versatile sideline

Fans can sit, stand or bring their own chairs. The visitor sideline is versatile and provides a nice area for spectators. There are rest rooms and the Steelheads will feature modest concessions and club souvenirs.

“We don’t apologize for the stage of development we are at,” Falk concludes. “Rather, we are happy to stay within our means and we hope families and friends of the players and the greater north Snohomish County community come along with us for the ride of growing a truly unique local soccer club.”
