SMOKEY POINT, WA—Parker Van Driel likes to let his play do the talking. That worked out just fine in his Snohomish County FC debut back on April 3 as he was named Man of the Match in the Steelheads’ 4-1 win at Grays Harbor Gulls. Parker scored the match winner and looked dangerous on the wing all day long. His performance has earned him another “call up” from the SnoCo FC Second Team Gala FC Pro Focus. Van Driel is listed on the 18 man roster for Sunday April 18th’s home match against Kirkland FC.
A Skagit Valley Steelhead
Parker went to Mount Vernon High School and then played NWAC soccer with the Skagit Valley Cardinals. His next stop after that was with The Evergreen State College in Olympia. He connected with the Steelheads after trying out for Gala FC Pro Focus Academy. His play there impressed SnoCo FC Director of Soccer Dagi Kesim.
“Parker is probably one of those players who was born to play outside midfield for our system,” Kesim says. “Defending and attacking, he does it all.”
His Play Does The Talking
Andrew Escalante has been capturing video interviews for the 2021 season. He chatted with Parker before training on Thursday April 15. Van Driel is a small guy and looks much younger than he actually is. This is something he’s used to hearing. He’d rather just get to training and showing his talents on the pitch.
