Record turnout as Steelheads host open tryouts; 40 players advance to training

Snohomish County FC Steelheads-Primary-800SMOKEY POINT, WA— The Snohomish County FC Steelheads held their annual open tryouts on Sunday March 10 at Dick Cardinal Stadium in Smokey Point. The beautiful sunny day saw 64 players turn out to try to make the new WWPL team. It’s the largest such group in SnoCo FC’s 3-year history.

Steelheads Head Coach Dagi Kesim was pleased with the numbers and also with the caliber of the players. Shortly after tryouts Kesim and other coaches met to discuss the day and to whittle the group down a bit heading into Tuesday night’s first practice. See the players invited to continue to train with the team in the list at the end of this article.

The day also included a club “Open House” in which fans and players were treated to Steelheads cookies created by club partner Sugar Momma’s Smokey Point Bakery & Cafe.

The Steeleads travel to Wenatchee for a preseason match on March 30 before opening their 2019 home schedule on Saturday April 13 at Dick Cardinal Stadium in Smokey Point when they host TriCities Alliance FC at 3 PM.
