SMOKEY POINT,WA—The Steelheads are looking ahead to 2021 after a long, match-less year in 2020. SnoCo FC has been boosted in recent days by a couple of big announcements. They arrive just in time to get momentum rolling towards an eventual return to the pitch.
A “Most Investable” Soccer Club
Protagonist Soccer covers lower league football around the United States. They have previously covered the Steelheads in feature articles. This December they are listing 70 clubs they feel are worthy of being invested in. SnoCo FC are excited to share that we placed #32 on their tabulations. “We have worked hard since 2017 to establish SnoCo FC and make it a worthwhile ‘brand’ both on and off the pitch,” says Steelheads General Manager David Falk. “So it is really nice to see a national publication recognize the efforts we are putting out up here in the Pacific Northwest.”
Just before the year ended the Steelheads saw their new Magenta indoor soccer kits listed on this Protagonist Soccer Top 20 tabulation.
WWPL Announces Extended First Division Season
The Western Washington Premier League (WWPL) has revealed an ambitious new plan for the First Division, where the Steelheads are defending champions. The league will stretch from March through September with July off and a post season cup in October.
The format change shifts the focus to community interaction and increases the reliance on elite adult veterans. The extension cuts into college player availability at the beginning and end of the season.
“We have a great core of veteran players,” says SnoCo FC Technical Director of Soccer Dagi Kesim. “They will be challenged to stay fit and focused under this new league schedule. We will continue to be open to college players as well, understanding that we want the best guys in our county to play for us, whatever their situations are.”
Indoor Steelheads Waiting For WISL Call
The Western Indoor Soccer League (WISL) will hold a conference call in early January to discuss what might come next for the season. The Steelheads were admitted into the league last Fall and held open tryouts and training in preparation. However the Covid-19 pandemic has delayed the season, which was originally scheduled to start in mid-November.
In the meantime Head Coach Jim Kessler has held the fort and brought players along to try to use the ‘down time’ to build team concepts and chemistry.
Silvers Hatch Timeline For Launch
The Snohomish County FC Silvers are working towards taking the pitch for the first time ever in 2021 as an elite women’s soccer team. In recent days there have been conference calls and message groups to organize the movement.
The Silvers hope to pick a Team Manager as well as a Head Coach in January. Open Tryouts would follow in early March and friendly matches could kick off in April.
