SMOKEY POINT, WA— The Western Washington Premier League (WWPL) match between the Snohomish County FC Steelheads and BeSea FC scheduled for Saturday June 1 had to be cancelled because no referees were assigned to the contest.
The two clubs prepared for kick off as usual and even began play with a substitute referee while behind the scenes Steelheads General Manager David Falk was contacting league president Mitch James and WWPL Referee Assignor Richard Meeks. It was decided that play should stop and the match would be rescheduled. The clubs will announce a new date soon.
In the meantime the WWPL schedule puts the Steelheads right back at the same venue for Saturday June 8 when Bellevue Community College’s pitch will see an upper-table battle between SnoCo FC and defending WWPL Champions the Kirkland FC Goats. That match is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
Here’s what happened in the WWPL in matches that were played.
