SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA— Snohomish County Football Club will play their first-ever match on Sunday April 9 at 6 PM at the Washington Premier FC Complex in Puyallup against WP South Sound FC of the Evergreen Premier League.
The match is happening before official ‘open tryouts’ so that South Sound can continue training for their season which kicks off April 30th. Steelheads FC have been networking a group of players to roster for the friendly. SnoCo FC open tryout details are expected to be announced shortly.
“The main objective of this friendly is get our club some exposure, play a competitive friendly game and get some touches in,” says Steelheads FC General Manager Andrew Escalante. The first SnoCo FC roster will feature players familiar with each other. “The group is actually a mixed between players from the Snohomish Skyhawks and Sporting Everett FC (Western Indoor Soccer League (WISL) clubs). Obviously since Aaron (Burns, Steelheads FC President) and I play for different clubs in the WISL, it was a no-brainer to bring players in from our respective clubs.”
“Our main focus is to get our guys playing high level outdoor while also seeing how we stack up against teams already in the league,” SnoCo FC President Aaron Burns says. “We want to make a name for ourselves and that comes with playing against teams in the EPLWA.” Eyes are already on 2018 and applying to join the statewide league that South Sound FC is already a part of. “Playing these kinds of games helps us get a good look at players who we are interested in and also helps us build the chemistry we’ll need to be successful next year.”
Washington Premier South Sound FC will enter the friendly having already played a preseason match last week. The Shock beat the Washington State University Cougars Men’s club team 4-0 last Sunday in Puyallup. South Sound are annual contenders in the EPLWA and have never finished lower than fourth in the table.
There may be others added before Sunday, but here is a ‘working roster’ for Steelheads FC versus South Sound:
