Steelheads go into stoppage time before falling to Seattle Stars Reserves

KENT, WA— Steelheads FC players have blisters on their feet from the heat of the turf at French Field in Kent this week after the boys played their hearts out in a 3-2 loss to the Seattle Stars Reserves on Saturday July 8.

After the Stars Reserves went ahead the Steelheads got level when  Max Smith converted a penalty kick just before halftime. SnoCo FC took a 2-1 lead in the 84th minute on a goal from Elijah Gordon. The club’s first-ever win was close to becoming reality, but then Seattle got level before the large portion of added time. As added time went on and on, Seattle found a winner.

2017_Stars_clear“That’s not a bad score to the (reserve) team of the club at the top of the EPLWA table,” Steelheads President Aaron Burns said after the match. Assistant Coach Felipe Aguilera agreed, adding “We were very well organized. We had more opportunities. We gave them a good fight and looked good out there.”

Head Coach Dagi Kesim praised his players for their great leadership throughout. General Manager Andrew Escalante said “We were unlucky not to walk away with a win. I’m very proud of the attitude our team has towards this system. Our guys are respecting what the coaching staff is asking of them. The system looked great today and we will improve off this game.”
