SMOKEY POINT, WA— The 2019 WWPL Champion Snohomish Steelheads are looking for more talent to help them defend their league title in 2020. Open Tryouts are Saturday March 7 and Sunday March 8 (12-3 PM both days) at Lakewood High School in Arlington / Smokey Point (Register HERE, pay online and SAVE $10.)
The Steelheads have ‘discovered’ plenty of guys via the tryout process. Brand new and returning players must go through tryouts each year and prove that they are ready to commit to the club and President of Soccer and Head Coach Dagi Kesim.
LAST YEAR
In 2019 the Fish made a big haul of talent that helped them win the WWPL in their first season in league play. See a few names below.
Cade Cooke
“When I first saw Cade I felt like this is a special player. Complete athlete who needs to be pushed to star. And that he did. He listened and learned. He became a game changer and signed for Seattle Pacific University and now is on the radar of pro teams.” – Dagi
Jacen Stein
“I have trained Jacen since he was 13 years old. In his high school years he lost his passion but with the Steelheads he found it again and improved. Now he has signed for Western Washington University.” – Dagi
Augustin Domingo
“Outstanding speed and skill but needed more disciplined play in his game. And he did that. He was averaging 6 to 8 steals a game and was all around dangerous player.” – Dagi
Marcus Swanson
“Strong and smart, Marcus needed to improve his decision making and positioning. We worked on it and he became a game changer. He tore down the right side of Portland Timbers U23 team. An NWAC All Star who led Tacoma Titans to the league championship final.” – Dagi
Randy Galvan
“He just needed to have more discipline and higher workrate in his game and he matched that challenge. He is a very dangerous setplay specialist.” – Dagi
THIS YEAR
Who will be discovered at Steelheads Open Tryouts in 2020? “As you see, players come to us not only to play at the next level but learn and improve to go even higher,” says Kesim. The Steelheads experience can lead to plenty of fun, trophies, hard work, and even college soccer or higher. For players looking for that break, it all begins at Lakewood High School in Arlington this coming weekend.
