MILL CREEK, WA—Gala Football Club of Mill Creek are winners in the youth game in tournaments and the Puget Sound Premier League. The club was founded by Daghan Kesim back in 2013 and prides itself on providing opportunities for players that might not get them elsewhere. SMOKEY POINT, WA— The Snohomish County FC Steelheads edged Nido Aguila Club America Seattle 1-0 on Sunday May 16 at Dick Cardinal Stadium. New and returning players led the charge as the defense recorded its first shutout of the season. The result ended Nido’s 15-match unbeaten streak in WWPL play, dating back to April 2019. Defender Cade Cooke made his first appearance of 2021 now that his Seattle Pacific University season has ended. Defenders John Troka, Gunnar Stohl, Garret Robinson and Hector Palomera were all back. SMOKEY POINT, WA—Gala FC Men’s Team, the Official Second Team of the Steelheads, scored their first Western Washington Premier League (WWPL) Second Division win on Sunday May 9 at Dick Cardinal Stadium. Earlier in the day the Steelheads lost 5-3 to Wenatchee, then Gala took the pitch and claimed a 2-0 win over ISC Gunners. It was a scoreless first half but Gala created numerous chances, including an agonizing sequence where the ball rolled slowly across the open Issaquah goal line only to skim off of the far post and stay out. SMOKEY POINT, WA—Parker Van Driel likes to let his play do the talking. That worked out just fine in his Snohomish County FC debut back on April 3 as he was named Man of the Match in the Steelheads’ 4-1 win at Grays Harbor Gulls. Parker scored the match winner and looked dangerous on the wing all day long. His performance has earned him another “call up” from the SnoCo FC Second Team Gala FC Pro Focus. MILL CREEK, WA—The Gala FC Academy U20 Men have won the Puget Sound Premier League (PSPL) Winter League after winning 7 of 8 matches. Steelheads Director of Soccer and Head Coach Dagi Kesim coached Gala to this latest achievement. Gala outscored their opponents 36-13 in the title run. SMOKEY POINT, WA—The Snohomish County FC Steelheads travel to Aberdeen on Saturday April 3 for a 2 PM match against the Grays Harbor Gulls at historic Stewart Field. It will be the first league match for the Fish since winning the Western Washington Premier League (WWPL) championship in July of 2019. The Steelheads and Gulls have met twice before. In 2018 the Fish traveled to Stewart Field for a friendly and in 2019 the Gulls came to Smokey Point for a league match. SMOKEY POINT, WA— Carlos Rodriguez became the first Steelhead to score a hat trick (3 goals in one match) on Sunday March 28 as the Snohomish County FC Steelheads edged Gala FC Pro Focus Academy 3-2 at a blustery Dick Cardinal Stadium. It was the first match for SnoCo FC outdoors since winning the Western Washington Premier League (WWPL) back in July of 2019. SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA—Snohomish County Football Club is excited to announce that Tim Colvin is joining the premier adult soccer club as the Head Coach of the Silvers, the new elite women’s team being created under the SnoCo FC banner. Colvin is a Snohomish County native with decades of experience as a player, coach, program developer and guide to player achievement. Soccer is a passion for the family as Tim’s father John was a longtime official and was an integral part of the beginnings of Snohomish County Youth Soccer. Dagi Kesim is doing just that with youth side Gala FC as the founder of that club and Steelheads Technical Director of Soccer takes to the internet with live teaching sessions. The video instructions have seen many Gala FC players jump online to view and also participate with feedback and questions. Steelhead players are also joining the viewership in good numbers. SMOKEY POINT, WA— The Western Washington Premier League (WWPL) and Gala FC recently announced that the Mill Creek youth club and Steelheads soccer partner will form a team to compete in the new WWPL Second Division starting in 2020. Gala FC Pro Focus will be the Steelheads’ Second Team, expanding playing opportunities and creating a direct link between the two clubs.
