Lady Fish Dominate In 4-0 Season Finale Win, Women Finish Top 3 In CPL

Smokey Point, WA

The Steelheads Women dominate in a 4-0 win vs. Cultures United after their season finale home match this past Sunday. The Lady Fish cap off their inaugural season by finishing third place in the CPL W-Division.

A Quick Fish Start

Within the first 2-minutes, the fish started creating chances on goal starting with Kat Wolfe finding Kielean Scheller around the 50yd line. Scheller then finds a streaking Sarah Dunbar with an outside of the foot pass. Dunbar would go on to beat the Cultures Goalkeeper 1v1 for the first goal of the match.

With a goal scored so soon, Cultures United had to up their physical game. It was a battle the rest of the first half. However, just before the half, center back Kylie Elliano would play a through ball passed the Cultures United back line to Kieleann Scheller who then would go on to beat the keeper. Steelheads are up 2-0 at halftime.

Jacobson Shines In Another Quick Start

Just like in the first half, Sarah Dunbar finds herself in another scoring position in the first minutes. After beating the keeper for a second time to put the ball away, the referee brings it back for an offsides call. However, not even a few minutes pass before the Steelheads find themselves with another quick opportunity. Storm Hendrix starts with some pressure on Cultures, leading to a Kiana Jacobson steal. Jacobson then finds Dunbar and combines for a 1, 2 play where Jacobson finds touch and the third goal of the game for the Steelheads.

Like a broken record, a quick restart lets Jacobson find the fourth goal of the game; her second of the half. Coming from another through ball over the Cultures back line, she was able to use her speed and run onto the ball and place it into the back of the net.

“Ladies had some amazing one-touch soccer. We also scored some great goals. Kiana shined in offense along with Kylie in the back. I am proud of their season.”

Technical Director Dagi Kesim

The Lady Fish would go on to take the 3rd spot in the Cascadia Premier League W-Division after the win to cap off the inaugural season.

“I continue to be amazed at the talent that comes from the Ladies of Snohomish County and surrounding areas.” Not only seeing a championship season from our Women’s Indoor Program, but a top three finish on the Outdoor Program as well. Both being inagural seasons. This only makes me more excited for what is to come for women’s soccer in our county and for our club! “
