Steelheads Goalkeeper Alex Thiehofe Earns Trial with Tacoma Stars Pro Team

Steelheads Goalkeeper Alex Thiehofe will be training with the Tacoma Stars pro team next week after impressing in a recent game against the Tacoma Stars Reserves. Thiehofe made over 30 saves in the loss, but his performance caught the eye of the Stars coaching staff.

Snohomish County FC’s goalkeeper Alex Thiehofe has earned himself an incredible opportunity to test his skills with Tacoma Stars, a professional indoor team. Previously having played soccer in Germany, this Northwest University student has proven he can perform on the pitch by accumulating 30+ saves in Snohomish County’s match against Tacoma — a performance that caught the eye of Adam Becker, the Tacoma Stars first-team head coach. Expanding on why he chose to offer Thiehofe a tryout, Becker expressed his passion for boosting local talent and creating a solid partnership between Snohomish County FC and WISL, the Western Indoor Soccer League. It is clear that Coach Becker knows talent when he sees it; if all goes well, we may be looking at Snohomish County’s very own star pro player making appearances for the Stars in seasons to come.

We asked Steelheads President Dorian Lair about Thiehofe and this opportunity: “It’s a great opportunity for Alex, and we couldn’t be any more proud. Becker has been very open about connecting WISL players to the Stars First Team, and we are honored to be a part of that connection. We hope to continue our growth in the Indoor space with a big focus on building players so that they get the opportunity to play at the Pro level.”

With training sessions scheduled 2-3 times per week, pending his school schedule, Thiehofe will have plenty of exposure to a high level of play while Coach Becker loos to see how he will fit into their system, as the Stars first-team travels this weekend to face the Florida Tropics and away games throughout the month. This adventure serves as a tremendous opportunity for Alex to expand his capabilities and gain experience at a high level.

Theihofe’s earning of the trial with the Tacoma Stars first team shows that hard work and determination pays off. It is an incredible opportunity for him to show off his talent, and the Steelheads organization is excited to see what is to come, and the name that he will make fore himself among the ranks.
