SMOKEY POINT, WA— The Arlington Arts Council recently got to work creating and then installing a school of “Steelies.” The metal art fish are now swimming along 67th Avenue in Arlington.
You can see how they were made here.
You can read coverage of their arrival here.
The installation is just about 4 miles from Lakewood High School Stadium where the Snohomish County FC Steelheads will play their home matches in 2019.
From the North County Outlook:
A team of four Arts Council member artists volunteered their time and diverse skills to create the six-foot fish, working in Mike Nordine’s muffler shop.
Sarah Arney, president of the Arlington Arts Council, said this is one of several art projects this year.
“We are very fortunate to have creative members willing to donate their time,” Arney said. “Thanks to their efforts, we completed this project with a very modest budget for materials.”
Needless to say, the Steelheads approve.
