Steelheads Drop 3-Points at Home vs Tacoma Stars Reserves

Fresh off of a bye weekend, the Steelheads drop 3-points at Home versus an experienced, undefeated (4-0) Tacoma Stars Reserves team 2-8 in their week 4 match in the Western Indoor Soccer League.

The night would start with Titans FC accompanying the Fish out for player introductions, traditional walk-out, and the playing of the National Anthem sung by Sloan Pearce.

The first quarter started off a bit rough with the first three goals of the game coming from Tacoma’s Isidro Prado-Huerta, scoring a hat-trick in the first quarter of the game. Throughout the quarter, The Steelheads had several chances to score with opportunities from Glenn Paden, Danny Amador, Jack Eberl, and Andrew Escalante. However, Tacoma’s Goalkeeper Luis Birrueta was able to come up big early on to kill the Steelhead’s momentum.

The second quarter saw much of the same with The Steelheads having opportunities to put the ball away, but a solid defensive showing and great goalkeeping from Tacoma would be too much for The Fish for the rest of the half. Tacoma would add two more goals before the half, ending 4-0.

On a positive note, during the halftime break, the club took a moment to recognize the Steelheads Women’s program on their 2022 NWPLi Championship. The men’s squad would line up in honor guard formation to welcome the ladies to the field, with a standing ovation from the crowd.

Going into the 3rd quarter, the Steelheads would fall victim to a foul streak and more missed chances, putting the Fish on powerplay defense, where an experience Tacoma Stars Reserve squad and outstanding goalkeeping would allow Tacoma to capitalize. They would add three more goals, seeing the quarter end at 7-0.

The fourth quarter would start with nothing to lose for the Steelheads, they would ultimately start their press and were able to capitalize, adding 2 goals in a 3-minute span. The first was from Brayden Corwin, assisted by Danny Amador, and the second would come from Elliot Misic, bringing the score to 2-7. However, Tacoma would answer to close out the game with one final goal. The game would end at 2-8 with the Fish dropping 3 points at home to an undefeated Tacoma team.
