We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dorian Lair as the new head coach of the Snohomish County Steelheads Men’s Arena team. Dorian’s remarkable soccer journey, spanning playing and coaching accomplishments, makes him the ideal candidate to lead the team to even greater heights.

“I am very excited to have an opportunity to coach at this level. A lot of my time has been spent on operating the business, driving our mission of community, and focusing on the youth, but now I’m excited to coach some of the top football talent in Snohomish County, all in hopes to get them exposure, tighten up their technical abilities, drive team culture, and get them to the next level…. This season is going to take more of everything, if we are to be on par with the top squads in the WISL, and Im excited to help facilitate that.

Dorian Lair – Club President & Head Coach (Arena)

Dorian’s passion for soccer began at Shorewood High School, where he honed his skills and became a four-year letterman from 2006 to 2009. His dedication to the sport paved the way for his continued success at the youth level, playing for FC Shoreline and Emerald City FC under the guidance of esteemed coach Peter Fewing.

As he progressed into collegiate soccer, Dorian’s talent as a goalkeeper shone brightly. He showcased his abilities at Edmonds College from 2009 to 2010, under the tutelage of Coach Brandon Mitalas. Later, he took on a new challenge at Warner Pacific University from 2010 to 2014, playing under the guidance of Coach Bernie Fagen. During his college years, Dorian’s exceptional goalkeeping skills and leadership on the field were evident, setting the stage for a promising future.

Venturing into competitive adult leagues, Dorian joined the Portland Spartans in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) from 2013 to 2015, where he had the opportunity to work with Coach Victor Usher Garcette. He then played for FC Mulhouse Portland from 2015 to 2018, once again under the guidance of Coach Victor Usher Garcette. Dorian’s stellar performances in the NPSL earned him a spot with the St. Petersburg Aztecs in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) from 2018 to 2019, playing under the mentorship of Coach Patrick Sweeney.

Dorian’s soccer journey transcended the traditional confines of club soccer when he represented the Cascadia Association Football Federation (CONIFA) in 2019, showcasing his abilities on the international/regional stage under Coach James Nickolas vs. Darfur.

In 2019, Dorian’s path led him to the Cascadia Premier League (CPL) and the Snohomish County Steelheads, where he initially played under Coach Daghan Kasim for two years and later played under Coach Kieren Raney in his recent stint.

Beyond his impressive playing career, Dorian’s coaching experience demonstrates his commitment to nurturing talent and developing the next generation of soccer stars. He has served as the Goalkeeper Coach for Salmon Creek SC and Hillsboro SC in Oregon, providing expert guidance to aspiring goalkeepers. Additionally, his most recent tenure as the Head Coach at Snohomish United where he coaches two girls’ teams showcases his leadership qualities and coaching acumen.

Dorian’s diverse background extends beyond soccer, as evidenced by his work experiences, including technology, data analytics, and program management for various Fortune 500 companies with his latest role being at Lululemon as the Digital Analytics and Optimization Team’s Lead Business Analyst.

The Fish will be playing their 3rd season in the WISL at a new facility, Arena Sports (Mill Creek), and will look to start pick-up sessions in late August, with tryouts in October or November.
