Hammers Reserves handle Steelheads 5-2 in Bellingham

BELLINGAM, WA— Snohomish County FC Steelheads traveled to Bellingham on June 17 for a match against the Bellingham United Reserves. A scoreless first half suddenly pivoted into a goalfest in the second as SnoCoFC fell 5-2.

The Steelheads came north with 18 players and held strong during the first half. There were chances on both sides but Head Coach Dagi Kesim was able to find reason for optimism in his halftime talk.

That optimism was stretched to its limits in a wild second half that saw the Hammers Reserves knock in four goals over a 15-minute stretch. The Steelheads were reeling but they refocused and managed to score two goals of their own while conceding one more. The 5-2 final showed that at the higher levels there is no room for error – and that a spell of poor play will be punished.

Andrew Escalante scored his second goal as a Steelhead. He was joined on the scoresheet by Jason Isaksen. Bellingham’s goals came from Taylor Moe, Ivan Colin, Adriano Vazquez, Caley Powers, and Christian Garcia.
